The idea of Julgiganten was conceived on a late night in December when the saffron buns and mulled wine had cooled, the snow had settled across the country, and the embers glowed in the fireplace. The celebration had been successful, company playing a significant role, and even the slightly less obvious elements, those things that are essential for a perfect Christmas feeling, had been in place. Like every other year, we had gathered decorations from various sources and over an extended period—the things that would brighten up this year.
